Do you have an example screenshot of how a text message pops up on the iDrive screen? You likely don't have the enhanced bluetooth option. I had the same problem.
My F10 with bluetooth would receive text and email form my BB, so when I ordered my F10, I made the assumption that bluetooth would be the same. This was not an extra option when I ordered my , the only option was bluetooth. Your only option is to have iturned on by coding, I had it done by bimmer-tech. With few exceptions, this car is loaded with a mess of stuff that I don't care for or use. Thanks again guys, I'll let you know if I find out anything else. I honestly find reason a text on the screen to be more of a distraction than on the phone Holding the speech button for a second brings up Siri, and you can ask her to read your messages aloud and dictate a reply. With the phone in your pocket I much prefer this. Well it was working until I tried to disconnect one phone and try another and now neither work, but I'll get it back eventually.
But one thing I'll could not get it to do is make a sound when a text comes in. What am I doing wrong? I bet it is something simple. The big problem is the iPhone. Great features if you need to be on the road alot for work or just want to stay connected.
Most important is to have a compatible phone. Samsung by far the best. Need to check through BMW's website, and be sure the research the specific phone you have or are considering. If you insiste on staying with the iPhone, just use it through Carplay, better than nothing. Originally Posted by Bacnbmw. Last edited by jjrandorin; at Originally Posted by jjrandorin. Thats likely by design with iPhones, so if you got the envelope on screen, then you got it working. Just remembered I am talking in a thread on G series cars, and My cars are not G series.
Maybe someone with a G series 5 can chime in on whether they have changed it to make noise. I doubt it though. I can no longer receive voice texts. I can send them but can't receive them. This used to work perfectly but stopped at some point. I think the problem is that I do not see "Show notifications" in the Bluetooth settings on the iPhone so I can't turn them on. I have no idea why or what has changed. I don't have CarPlay. Anyone have any ideas? BB code is On. All times are GMT The time now is Text Messages in iDrive.
